A decade ago, a trip through Georgia brought Thierry Fontannaz, a Swiss wine entrepreneur, face-to-face with Nugzar Ksovreli, a veteran Georgian winemaker, changing the course of their lives. But there’s a bit more to our story
Bedoba celebrates the rich and welcoming culture of Georgia, where East, West, North, and South meet. Influences from Europe, Persia, Arabia, Anatolia, and even the Far East have blended into Georgia’s unique identity, making it one of the friendliest countries on Earth. This warm and generous spirit is something everyone who visits Georgia experiences.
Bedoba wine was created to honor this spirit. Georgian winemaker Nugzar Ksovreli from the Kakheti Wine Company teamed up with Swiss wine entrepreneur Thierry Fontannaz. Thierry was amazed by Georgia’s ancient winemaking methods and wanted to share them with the world. He used Nugzar’s famous Saperavi grapes from the Konchoshvili family winery in Kakheti to create Bedoba.
The Konchoshvili family has been making wine since 1533! Back then, their ancestor Kakhaber Konchoshvili was the winemaker for King Teimuraz II. He started a cellar where
They made and sold traditional Kakhetian wines, and that tradition continues today with Bedoba.
